Women's Day in Naples 2015 | 8 March free admission to museums

To celebrate Women's Day 2015, all women can visit state museums for free

To celebrate the anniversary of the International Women's Day, 8 March 2015 thanks to a MiBac initiative all women will be able to visit cultural heritage for free, specifically museums, villas, monuments, archaeological areas, archives and state libraries. In these places, the artists who have contributed to the enhancement of art will be honored in particular.

The Special Superintendence for the Archaeological Heritage of Naples and Pompeii, for this reason, will present special guided tours at the National Archaeological Museum and the Royal Palace.

As regards the  Museum National, who with the event "Women's Day" will remember, through the readings, authors, empresses and famous princesses, linked to important historical events through three events that will be held throughout the rejoicing.

At the Royal Palaceinstead, with “A woman for art” there will be a special tribute to Artemisia Gentileschi. The artist, in fact, became a symbol of feminism as she managed to be ideologically and artistically independent in a period, that of the 600s, in which a male-dominated culture prevailed. Furthermore, the analysis of her rape trial, undergone by her perspective teacher, will lead us to the sad problem of violence against women, an ever deeper social scourge.

In addition to these, it must be said that the Diocesan Museum, will remain open exceptionally from 10.00 to 20.00 and you can take guided tours or you can simply take advantage of the reading room and the Donnaregina terrace. Visitors will also receive a free copy of the newspaper The morning.

You just have to choose where to go. The important thing is to give a concrete meaning to this consumerism of 8 March.
