Januaria, one night at the Museo del Tesoro of San Gennaro in Naples with a theatrical visit

Night theatrical visit to the Museum of the Treasure of San Gennaro

History, anecdotes and legends will enliven the Night at the Museum of the Treasure of San Gennaro in Naples with the theatrical visit!

The 11 February 2017 the cultural association Nartea will organize a theatrical visit entitled Januaria - A night at the San Gennaro museum.

Visitors will be accompanied by the guide and the actors Valeria Frallicciardi and Andrea Fiorillo, who will be interpreters of anecdotes and mysteries related to the cult of the patron saint of Naples.

The title of the visit is inspired by Januaria, name assonant to that of Gennaro, from the Latin Ianuarius, derived in turn from Ianus (Janus), the two-faced god, to whom the Gens Januaria.

Actually Januaria was the surname of the saint, later transformed into the Neapolitan name Januario. But Januario is also the surname of the descendants of San Gennaro, whose relatives women, during the crowded celebrations for the miracle, they turn to the saint in a colorful and pretentious manner, because in the name of their blood relatives, they require special thanks in a facilitated way.

It will be Eusebia Januario, descendant of the one who kept the blood in the ampoules, to lead the public to discovery of the huge and precious treasure, made up of priceless objects and jewels.

Later he will leave the word to Giuseppe Navarra, called the king of Poggioreale, architect of the recovery of the Ttesoro that was kept in the Vatican during the Second World War and which was later brought back to Naples.

A show dedicated to historical testimonies and imaginative legends that have increased the veneration of the lay saint. The evening will end with the tasting of Campania wine.
