The wait is about to end, because soon the KFC headquarters at the La Cartiera shopping center in Pompeii. 20 April 2017 there will be the inauguration event reserved for the press at 11.00, while at 12.00 there will be the official opening to the public.
The restaurant, which is part of the very famous American chain that sells fried chicken and which is successful in many countries, is at its second opening in Campania because already in the 70 years a restaurant was opened in Vomero, a site which however closed after a few years. Probably then, with less "globalized" tastes, KFC did not take root immediately, but nowadays, with the increasing success of these international chains, surely the restaurant in Pompeii will be very popular with food lovers made in USA.
The menu
The menu, also available from the official website, presents the many variations of fried chicken in the various sizes available in the basket. There are, among many, the bucket for one person, 2 or 4 people and you can choose between standard or spicy chicken. There are no shortage of them maxi versions and each version is prepared with an original recipe.
But at KFC there is not only fried chicken, in fact you can also order ice cream (kream ball) with chocolate or strawberry, portions of French fries, salads, chocolate fudge and sandwiches.
Among the drinks, the Pepsi, the 7up, the tp Lipton, the Schweppes, but also water, juice and coffee.
Pricing
Prices are convenient and vary by 1 euro for a sandwich, a portion of fries or ice cream (the kream ball), all small in size, 2 to EUR for larger quantities. The intermediate prices are 1,30 and 1,50.
The original recipe
KFC's worldwide success lies in Colonel Sanders' original recipe. that he managed to find the method to make the breading crispier. In reality, each product has its own specific recipe to follow: for example, for fried wings you have to pass the chicken pieces in water twice. After the first time, they are passed in the flour with 10 movements and, after removing the excess flour with a sieve, it is passed back into the water by shaking it in the basket for 10 times.
