Arancia Meccanica, the show on stage at the Bellini theater in Naples

Clockwork Orange

The show "A Clockwork Orange", directed by Gabriele Russo, music by Morgan will make its national premiere at the Bellini Theater in Naples

That Clockwork Orange represents a cult film, a true myth of the history of world cinema is known to everyone. What some still do not know is that soon the famous dystopian novel of Anthony Burgess written in the 1962 and adapted well for the screen by the director Stanley Kubrick in 1971, it will become a theatrical show, which will debut in the world premiere at Bellini Theater of Naples, from 1 to 13 April 2014.

After 51 years of the masterpiece from the first publication of the novel, we realize how far-sighted Brugges was in his visionary representation of a society increasingly inclined to control consciences, which cannot be escaped, and to the indoctrination of a "thought unique".

The story of Alex and his friends drughi raises very specific and partly unsolved questions: is freedom of choice really that important? And in this regard, is man really capable of choosing? And again: does the word freedom mean something specific? And in particular, is it better to be evil by one's own choice or to be righteous and honest thanks to scientific brainwashing?

Gabriele Russo, director of this brave Clockwork Orange translated for the theatrical scene, he claims to have experienced, in reading the original Burgess novel, the feeling of being already in front of a dramaturgical text, to which it was necessary to associate functional and original music, bursting and out of the box, just like those of Kubrick's film. It is for this reason that the choice fell on one of the most extravagant and over the top musicians on the national music scene: Morgan.

Morgan he managed to create one sound score inspired by Beethoven's classical music, deformed and adapted to give shape to a rarefied and oneiric world, that of Alex's nightmare, protagonist and narrator in the first person of the story. "Visions, music and rhythm will be punctuated by the protagonist's feelings, while the scene will be a black box inside which Alex's visions will materialize, installations of contemporary art that will self-destruct in the next scene".

The themes highlighted by this interesting and fascinating version of Gabriele Russo they will be therea thin line between good and evil, the relationship between victim and executioner, the connection between the violence of the individual and that of society, expressed through the emblematic character of Alex, compared to Richard III for the search for the idea of absolute evil, of evil as an end in itself, as pure enjoyment.

On the occasion of the show Clockwork Orange, Wednesday 2 April at 21At the 'Historical Archive of Naples in via Scarlatti 30, a special meeting will be held with the Drughi, to consume an unprecedented “correct milk” together with all those present. Free admission.
