Coronavirus, funds to Municipalities and vouchers for those who cannot shop

The new emergency decree against Coronavirus provides funds to municipalities and coupons for those who have no money to do the shopping.

With a new direct, yesterday evening Saturday 28 March 2020, the Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte announced a new decree that provides funds to be allocated to municipalities to help the less well-off.

It is a measure that aims to give support for those who have difficulty shopping and to procure essential goods for survival. This urgent decree provides for the sum of 4,3 billion euros to be given to the Municipalities and to be taken in advance from the Municipalities Solidarity Fund.

In this way, the mayors will be able disburse shopping vouchers as early as next week. Furthermore, with the Civil Protection ordinance, 400 million euros are added which will be paid immediately for shopping vouchers and for the supply of food. The aim is to be able to give, one-time, 300 or 400 euros.

The State is there: to help all citizens in difficulty

By working with Civil Protection, the government wants to succeed provide this financial aid by April 15. Also at the press conference, it was said that as early as April 1 it will be possible, with a click, to apply for aid.

These resources will also be distributed based on population and poverty index. In any case, we remind you that these are timed measures and valid only for the emergency period.

Finally, both the President Conte and the Minister of Economy Roberto Gualtieri stressed that, in this moment of emergency due to the Coronavirus, the state is present and that nobody will be left alone.
