This show is edited by Fernando Mazzocca and was created in collaboration with the Institut Français of Naples, Museum of Capodimonte and Italian cultural institutions and international museums.
The intent is to honor the works of Caravaggio, whose extraordinary greatness was first recognized by the French painters who stayed in Rome in the neoclassical period and fell in love with his works.
Among them there was Jacques-Louis David, of which the strong artistic echoes of are known Caravaggio in his own works.
In the Basilica of San Francesco di Paola a Naples a faithful copy of the "Deposition in the Sepulcher" di Caravaggio, painted by the Neapolitan painter Tommaso De Vivo.
It was from this painting that the intent to show a comparison between the copy of the "Deposition" e "The death of Marat" di Jacques-Louis David.
La show offers the opportunity to retrace the luck and history of the masterpiece of the "Deposition in the Sepulcher" di Caravaggio and to admire various masterpieces his and the David.
