The excursions in the wonderful Bay of Ieranto by kayak at sunset, an experience to be lived between land and sea.
From 9 June 2017, and for every Friday and Saturday until 1 ° July, Fai has announced the extraordinary opening ofNatural Area Baia di Ieranto and the possibility to visit the splendid inlet of the Gulf of Salerno in kayak.
An initiative suitable for all enthusiasts and sports enthusiasts, which will start from Marina del Cantone up to the bay to explore it both from the sea, following the profile of the coast, and from the ground, with a visit path between the Montalto tower and the industrial archeology area of the former Italsider quarry. The view of the Amalfi coast under the light of the full moon will make the return special.
The Bay of Ieranto
Inserted inProtected Marine Area of Punta Campanella, the Bay is one of the most enchanting and fascinating places in the region. According to legend, in fact, in the Bay of Ieranto the mythical King Ulysses risked falling into the trap of the Sirens and their song. The Greeks erected on this land a temple dedicated to the goddess Athena, the Romans one dedicated to the goddess Minerva. The Bay opens on the southern coast of the Sorrento peninsula, Punta Capitello separates the two areas that form the inlet: the Baia Grande and the Piccola Bay. Since 1986, Fai, the Italian Environment Fund, has managed the entire former Ilva district, up to Punta Campanella, and has been able, over many years of hard and passionate work, to restore the Bay to its former glory.
From the terraces under the olive trees, next to the lemon pergola you can enjoy a unique view, even more spectacular at sunset when the sun plunges into the sea behind the Faraglioni of Capri. A show not to be missed, to enjoy one of the most beautiful views of the coast of Campania.
