The National Archaeological Museum of Naples celebrates the Chinese New Year with free admissions and a small exhibition dedicated to the Year of the Rat.

On the occasion of the Chinese New Year il National archeologic museum of Naples will open for free its doors from 17:00 on 24 January 2020. To celebrate the beginning ofyear of the mouse according to the Chinese calendar they will be put on display precious bronze figurines never leave the MANN archives.

The Director of the National Archaeological Museum Paolo Giulierini will attend the New Year celebrations to be held in Piazza del Gesù on the same day of Friday 24 January and will invite citizens to enjoy free afternoon entry to the MANN, the perfect opportunity to visit the exhibition "The contemporary for archeology: Chinese artists at MANN".

Naples celebrates the Chinese New Year

The city of Naples will celebrate the beginning ofYear of the Mouse to promote the integration of the large Chinese community into our city fabric.

Proud to join the series of initiatives put in place at an institutional level, the MANN proposes one unique exhibition of its kind, exhibiting for the first time three bronze mice dating back to the first century after Christ. 

The representations of small rodents were very common in Roman times and were mainly made in decorative purpose, while in Far East the mouse is considered a symbol of prosperity and good luck.
