Guided tour with tasting at the Hypogeum of the Togati of Naples

Interesting guided tour with tasting at the Togati Hypogeum to discover the Greek necropolis

Sunday March 29 2015 there will be an interesting guided tour at the Hypogeum of the Togati, in the Sanità district, the ancient heart of Naples, where a parallel city is hidden, Neapolis, consisting of funerary hypogea built during the Hellenistic period.

Thanks to the painstaking work of the speleologists, this underground Greek treasure emerged, the Hypogeum of the Togati, so called for the presence of a high relief which shows a funeral farewell scene of two human figures, a man and a woman, dressed in chiton, himation and toga, typical clothes of ancient Greece.

But the guided tour also includes one  walk in the village of Vergini, famous for the tradition of the local market, a symbol of peripheral folklore. Here you will admire the wonderful eighteenth-century noble architecture of Palazzo San Felice e Palazzo Spagnuolo and then we will continue along via Santa Maria Antesecula, where we will visit the The Prince's native home of laughter of Naples, the unforgettable Totò.

To close with a flourish, you can taste the tasty taralli "nzogna e pepe" accompanied by a good glass of wine.

An unmissable opportunity to get to know a historic district, too often forgotten in vain of the vain political promises.
