Beer ice cream arrives in Naples thanks to the original idea of the historic Gran Caffè Gambrinus!

Una summer news comes from the premises of the historian Gran Caffè Gambrinus of Naples and will delight both ice cream and beer lovers. Indeed, it is the new taste of beer ice-cream.

Certainly an original idea that fits into an area in which there are many particular and curious combinations that have been coming up in the kitchen in recent years.

Beer ice cream: between modernity and tradition

Beer ice cream is certainly one of these and is served both on the cone and in the cup (with the addition of cream and crumbled savory pastry) or even in portions. In this case, it would be a kind of semifreddo to take home where the base is always made up of one crumbled salted shortcrust pastry to which beer ice cream and cream are added.

The team specialized in the preparation of this ice cream is led by the pastry chef Stefano Avellano. Furthermore, this ice cream, in addition to being a novelty, also refers to tradition since the name of the place itself, "Gran Caffè Gambrinus", derives from legendary king of Flanders who invented beer.

The tastes "of the past" of the Gran Caffè Gambrinus

During this summer, in addition to the new ice cream, it will be possible to continue to taste what the restaurant proposes as a classic: flavors of ice cream that were loved a few decades ago and which are now making a comeback. There are the violet taste dedicated to princess Sissi.

The Empress, during a stop in Naples on 11 November 1890, bought pieces of coral, turtle, porcelain and silver and stopped to rest at Gambrinus eating violet ice cream made with milk, cream and aromatic liqueurs, delicate in flavor and in color.

Still, there are the spumoni which were already very successful in the 60s and so zuccotto or coviglia.
