At the National Library of Naples a rare letter from Giacomo Leopardi addressed to the Count Carlo Emanuele Muzzarelli!

The National Library of Naples participated in the FINARTE auction of Books, Autographs and Prints which was held on November 18, 2020, winning a precious letter from Giacomo Leopardi.

Letter from Giacomo Leopardi

In particular, it is a very rare letter from December 18 1825, that is 195 years ago, that the famous poet Giacomo Leopardi sent from Bologna and addressed to Count Carlo Emanuele Muzzarelli, his friend and important personality of the Roman cultural reality of the 1800s.

Inside this letter you can read Giacomo Leopardi's appreciation for the verses written in his honor by the Count and his approval for publication, verses that will in fact be published on Bibliographic and urban theatrical news or Il Caffè di Petronio.

This epistle thus embellishes the already rich heritage present in the National Library of Naples which concerns precisely Giacomo Leopardi, between literary, philosophical and non-fiction works and with 80% of letters sent to the poet by friends and relatives.
