The Montesanto Foodwalk app will introduce the gastronomic traditions of the neighborhood with augmented reality paths!

Il 9 December 2016 at 17.30 pm at the Nitsch Museum the presentation of "Montesanto foodwalk“, An augmented reality journey on the food and wine traditions of the neighborhood. Montesanto is one of the most popular and multiethnic districts of Naples, a piece of the heart of this city. Its economy has always been based on public activities linked above all to food, in fact it is possible to reconstruct the history of the neighborhood starting from its historical and attractive premises. For this he was chosen to be the protagonist of a multimedia project of soundwalk.

It is about making the district known through the stories and the faces of those who have written or who continue to write the history of this place also through the relationship with food: food as a recognizable element of a community, food as a "smart specialization" or food as an element present in the markets. Small business entrepreneurs, scholars and artists will take care of the second stage of the project "The (good) taste of innovation": Reflections and actions on the culinary imaginary of the city.

The Montesanto Foodwalk app

The “Montesanto Foodwalk” application will be presented by two sound design experts Stefano Perna and Pasquale Napolitano and by members of a digital communication and culture company “Nevermind”.

The idea was born from a reflection of Pasquale Napolitano who, in seeing the tourists pass outside the Blue fish and taking pictures here and there, he thought they were missing something unique and interesting, that is the story of those who live in this place. For this, together with others, he thought of a tool that could be useful from this point of view. Install an app that relies on geolocation sensors distributed in the various streets of the area, from Pignasecca to Portamedina, to vico Cappuccinelle n.13, the headquarters of the former Mensa dei Bambini proletari.

The purpose of the app is to transform the visitor's smartphone into an augmented reality guide thanks to which everyone can access a voice made of stories, sounds and interviews of those living in the Montesanto district.

The app will be downloadable for free from the Fondazione Premio Napoli website and from the Apple store from 18 December 2016.
