The musical Musicanti at the Palapartenope in Naples is a fantastic journey into the music of Pino Daniele with a moving and entertaining story. Here is the review.

Friday 7 December 2018, Palapartenope of Naples, has turned the National premiere of the long-awaited musical Musicanti with music by Pino Daniele. It was a magnificent show that honored the music and intellectual production of our bluesman, but also gave us a moving story, full of ideas for reflection, carried on stage by a cast of talented artists.

The narrative, although not too complex in its development, has been continuously underlined by Pino Daniele's masterpieces, pieces wisely chosen above all from his first works, the most committed and, at the same time, real poetry.

La scenography, on the other hand, it mostly represented the interior of a room, the EU Man, inherited from the protagonist Antonio and around which the story unfolded in a series of new and old relationships between the protagonists, complicated events to solve and a happy and fun ending.

Musicanti was a really engaging show, long but not heavy in his 3 hours of wonderful music and with a cast that has been able to entertain and move the audience, remained very satisfied at the end of the show.

Musicians: a funny and moving story

In short, history makes us acquainted with Antonio, a young boy who, having received in inheritance from the father never known the local Ue Man, he is forced to return to Naples to manage it. In the city, among the many difficulties due to the complexity of the city and people, it will succeed in to make its initial prejudices vanish and to meet fantastic people. Among these, the singer Anna will fall in love with her and his grandfather, the street artist Dummì, Teresina, Rita e Donna Concetta, one of the symbols of the neighborhood. These are characters taken from the songs of Pino Daniele, songs that have been used as sleep to mark the events of history. To complete the whole, even the bad guy 'O Scic, the criminal who will try in every way to seize the place.

On stage they were also present musicians which, of course, they have played live, continually dragging the audience into a riot of emotions. Audience who had fun and excited from the beginning to the end of the show, also paying tribute to a beautiful one standing ovation to the whole cast.

Le 30 songs by Pino Daniele were chosen in a masterly way and among them there were also little-known pearls such as "Pull a cart"," Acqua 'e rose "," Quacchecosa ", in addition to the best known as"' Na tazzulella 'e cafè ","My land"," Napule è "," I like 'o blues ","Lazzari Happy"," Viento ","Who holds' or sea“,“ Quanno chiove ”and many others.

The imposing scenography: the extra character

The set design, of which we have already mentioned, it developed on four floors and all the details, from time to time, really made us believe we were there inside the room or in the square in which the various protagonists sipped a coffee or, again, in the external places where they met to chat, reflect and observe the sea.

For the precision in the details and its grandeur has represented almost an extra character on stage.

Conclusions

Musicanti was really a huge success and, in the finale, there was also there bis request from the audience, completely enthusiastic and satisfied. The conclusion with "All history"and "Yes I know my way”They did even more sing and dance all, between applause and congratulations.

The show could have risked disappointing expectations and not paying the right homage to the work of Pino Daniele, one of the most important artists of our Naples and all of Italy, and there could be the fear of staging a story that is not at the height. Instead, the facts have shown the opposite and the production work, direction and cast was incredible.

The manufacturer Sergio De Angelis of Ingenius srl has written, with Alessandra Della Guardia and Urbano Lione, a beautiful story that will surely have an equal success in the other stages of the tour, thanks to the artistic direction of Fabio Massimo Colasanti, the direction of Bruno Oliviero and Cristina's choreography Menconi.

Musicians will be on stage for other dates until the December 23.
