The Naples Light Festival is coming, the Festival of Lights with beautiful light games, video projections, virtual reality, excellent gastronomy and the geodesic sphere!
Napoli, like other large European cities, organizes for the first time the Festival of Lights for a fantastic five days from 8 to 12 May 2018, in the context of May of the Monuments. The Festival will be completely free .
The N-Light, that is the Naples Light Festival, will take place in four representative locations of the city, Piazza Plebiscito Royal Palace, Piazza Dante, Certosa di San Martino e Piazza Municipio, which will be linked to each other by a artistic path of lights, light and digital installations with the addition of an imposing geodesic sphere.
The theme will be characterized by the four elements, water, earth, air and fire to further enhance our magnificent artistic and cultural heritage and the program will be enriched by videoprojections, book presentations, trips to virtual reality, gastronomic excellence from Campania, in a process of fusion of live artistic performances and multisensory somosistraction.
Local associations and national and national institutions, as well as other local authorities, will also be involved.
Installations and video projections
Each of the four locations will be the protagonist of light games, light installations and particular video projections, according to the following project:
- there will be videomapping on the facades of the Royal Palace, of the Certosa di San Martino on the National Convitto of Piazza Dante
- expected one light show on the Maschio Angioino and in the Neptune Fountain in Piazza Municipio
- there will be exhibition stands in Piazza Dante
- present a great one geodesic sphere for multisensory food and wine experiences and live shows in Piazza Dante
The geodesic sphere: multisensory enogastronomy and shows
In the geodesic sphere installed in Piazza Dante, visitors will be able to live original multisensory food and wine experiences because they will perform tastings of products from the Campania production in an immersive environment. Virtual reality will make the experience unique with visual suggestions, images and sounds. It is the experience of KIF, Kitchen Idea Factory, on the road, which will make Piazza Dante the centerpiece of the Festival.
Furthermore, every evening there will be shows with DJ sets, dance and theater.

Tuesday May 8
- 21.00 hours: inauguration of installations and luminous artistic parade with group artists
New Impact of South coordinated by Grethel Mondello.
The route begins in Piazza Plebiscito with the light show and the Mayor Luigi de Magistris, the Delegate for Autonomy of the City Flavia Sorrentino and the media will be present. Among others, Maurizio de Giovanni, Gino Sorbillo and Marco Infante will also participate.
A video projection is planned on the façade of the Palazzo Reale and on the colonnade of the Basilica of San Francesco di Paola. - 21.30 hours: the parade continues in Piazza Municipio with the lighting of the lights on the Maschio Angioino, on the Neptune fountain and on the external façade of the Certosa di San Martino.
- 22.00 hours: the light show also lights up in Piazza Dante, on the geodesic sphere installed in the center of the square and on the hemicycle of the Convitto Vittorio Emanuele II.
- 23.00 hours: exhibition of the acrobatic piazzaiuoli of the Neapolitan pizzaiuoli association.
Wednesday May 9
- 12.00 hours: immersive virtual reality trips to discover the artistic and cultural heritage of Italy will be offered to students of schools and universities in Naples and Campania in the geodesic sphere in Piazza Dante. There will be the stands of the exhibitors of Neapolitan and Campania food and wine excellences.
- 19.00 hours: in the geodesic sphere the book "The prison of humanity" by Livio Varriale will be presented. Coordinates

- 22.00 hours: in Piazza Dante, the world pastry champion Gabriele Vannucci will do a live cooking show on the art of pastry between tradition and innovation.
Thursday May 10th
- 12.00 hours: immersive virtual reality trips to discover the artistic and cultural heritage offered to students of schools and universities in Naples and Campania in the geodesic sphere in Piazza Dante. There will be the stands of the exhibitors of Neapolitan and Campania food and wine excellences.
- 19.00 hours: ITALIA ARTE EXPO - the network of cities of art for Expo Dubai 2020, with the Commissioner of the Italian Government for the Dubai Universal Exposition 2020, dr. Paolo Glisenti; the Mayor of Naples, dr. Luigi De Magistris and in connection from Florence the Mayor Dario Nardella, coordinates the initiative Giuliano Gasparotti.
- 20.00 hours: in the geodesic sphere in Piazza Dante, aperitif and multisensory dinner with live cooking show by chef Giammarco Lampis.
- From 21.30 to 24.00 hours: light show in the locations involved in the Festival.
- 22.30 hours: in Piazza Dante "the V element" live performance of the dancer Grethel Mondello and show presentation of the book "Fake - A true story" by Martina Dell'Ombra.
Friday May 11th
- 12.00 hours: immersive virtual reality trips to discover the artistic and cultural heritage offered to students of schools and universities in Naples and Campania in the geodesic sphere in Piazza Dante. There will be the stands of the exhibitors of Neapolitan and Campania food and wine excellences.
- 19.00 hours: presentation of the book "Sahara desert of mafias and jihad" by Alessio Postiglione and Massimiliano Boccolini and speeches by Abdallah Cozzolino and professor Ottavio Di Grazia (Suor Orsola Benincasa).
- 20.00 hours: in the Geodetic Sphere in Piazza Dante aperitif and multi-sensory dinner with live cooking show by chef Giammarco Lampis.
- From 21.30 to 24.30 hours: light show at the Festival locations.
- 22.30 hours: in piazza Dante, “the 4 elements” of Lunare Project with the collaboration of Radio Yatch, DROP and the cultural association Casa della Cultura and the group of artists New Impact of South by Grethel Mondello; Lupo di Mare dj and Kommando dj of the Circo Nero will perform.
Saturday May 12th

There will be the stands of the exhibitors of Neapolitan and Campania food and wine excellences.
- 19.00 hours: presentation of the book “Il Buio su Parigi” by Giovanna Pancheri, Giacomo Stucchi, president of Copasir, dr. Alfredo Mantici and readings of passages from the book by the actor Ignazio Oliva; coordinated by Giuliano Gasparotti.
- 20.00 hours: in the geodetic sphere in piazza Dante aperitif and multi-sensory dinner with live cooking show by chef Giammarco Lampis.
