An exciting scenic meeting between the two geniuses of the Elizabethan theater, Christopher Marlowe and William Shakespeare, between theater, power, betrayal and mysteries

Until Sunday 13 November 2016 will be on stage, al Little Bellini, the small "experimental" room of the Bellini Theater in Naples, the show "Shakespeare in love (with Marlowe)", a light, delicate and engaging two-part story written and directed by Vittorio Cielo and taken from "Shakespeare. On the trail of a legend by Samuel Schoenbaum " and produced by TTR, Il Teatro di Tato Russo.

Acting on the Piccolo Bellini stage Ennio Coltorti ed Emiliano Jesus Coltorti, father and son in reality, which offer us an interesting scenic confrontation between generations both in reality and in drama to which they give life. The characters they play are, in fact, Christopher Kit Marlowe e William Shakespeare, the two most famous actors, poets and playwrights of the Elizabethan era, two real geniuses of the theater.

The audience attends a short (the show lasts 60 minutes) but compelling representation between two different lives in terms of lifestyle and destiny. The story of their meeting is an old William Shakespeare (played by the father Coltorti) who with a quick change of costumes will then be the Marlowe of the scene, while the young Shakespeare is the son Coltorti). During the performance, the good and talented Ennio Coltorti will transform himself again, also interpreting the icy, imperturbable and indecipherable figure of Queen Elizabeth.

Review of the show Shakespeare in love (with Marlowe) at the Piccolo Bellini in Naples

The drama begins when the naive young, passionate and dreamy William Shakespeare, entranced by the figure of Christopher Marlowe and his talent, knocks on his door. His Faust literally bewitched him, so as to encourage him even more to pursue his career in the theater, despite the economic problems, despite the plague that is rampant in Elizabethan London, despite the Spanish threat is advancing upsetting England, despite the absolute ban by the Queen of reopen theaters.

The confrontation between the two becomes more and more compelling when we realize that the cynicism and the enigmatic and mysterious of Marlowe travels on a path diametrically opposite to that of Shakespeare, ready to devote himself completely to poetry and theater without compromise. with no one, focusing everything on his feelings and his desire to shake the souls of the people.

Ma Christopher Marlowe was a spy? This is the question that constantly hovers and torments the scene. And the answer is affirmative because the old Marlowe was nothing but a spy ready to serve the queen's power game, an awkward and feared secret agent so much so that he was killed at the age of 29 during a brawl in a tavern with a dagger in his eye. Because, as Faust himself states, "Making deals with power costs the soul", and in this case also life.

What remains of this "yellow" is the encounter-clash between two lives full of twists and turns, betrayals (it will be known that Marlowe has seduced the Brown Lady, the only woman really loved by Shakespeare), professional esteem, cynicism and desire to write history.
