The Flagship band performs outside at the Pan for the inauguration of the Rock show

The fourth edition of the Rock Exhibition will be hosted at the Pan di Napoli and will show vinyls and tributes to great musicians, but also a section dedicated to Massimo Troisi

La great rock music returns to live again this year within the walls of the Palazzo delle Arti in Naples (PAN) and does so with its fourth edition. This morning, February 22, 2014, there was the press conference for the inauguration of the event, which will last until 6th April next.

The departure was in full rock style: the Flagship, official band of the US Navy of Naples, composed of talented young people who have re-proposed pieces from the classic rock that we all love. After a crackling start with Chuck Berry, we could hear timeless classics like Jimi Hendrix, i Led Zeppelin, the Journey, naturally passing through the legendary Beatles.

Despite a pouring rain ("but also in Woodstock it was raining ", Carmine Aymone pointed out), the show allowed to enter into the rock spirit and to start the press conference of PRESENTATIONAnd. Together with Carmine Aymone and Michelangelo Iossa, organizers of the event, the representatives of the institutional partners of the event were present: theCouncilor for Culture of Naples Nino Daniele (the event is co-organized by the Municipality's Department of Culture) and the US Consul General in Naples Colombia Barrosse.

Instead, the British Council, the University Radio of Suor Orsola Benincasa, Suoni del Sud and Anm are the cultural partners of the exhibition. Furthermore, ANM will be the protagonist of a section of the exhibition, "Metrorock“, In which the relationship between means of transport and rock will be analyzed.

Councilor Daniele began by declaring Naples a cultural capital and also the capital of Rock. In fact, in our past, many artists have carved out an important role as protagonists in this field, first of all the leader of the Osanna Lino Vairetti. Furthermore, it is essential to remember that rock music has a strong effect of liberation in those who live it fully; just consider the revolutionary role that has taken over the years 50 and 60, especially among young people, often in contrast with the dominant forms.

That's why in Naples, even today full of young With so much hope, rock continues not to mean resignation, but a means to rediscover a collective dimension to look forward to the future.

Among over 20 scheduled events for the duration of the exhibition, a special space was reserved for even the youngest, like every year. In fact, from the 1 March the project will start BabyRock which, with the collaboration of the British Council, will allow school-age children to learn English through rock songs.

Moreover, as in previous editions, each room on the second floor of the Pan will host a specific theme: as an ideal starting point, we will start from the character of Elvis, father of rock and the one who made this revolutionary genre, allowing the birth of the 45 laps. You will find rare autographs of great musicians and a tribute to Lou Reed, through two photos of the photographer Guido Harari.

A thematic area called Monuments documents will allow the visitor to better understand the great rock songs, contextualizing their text. Since music is never disconnected from the social, it is not possible to understand masterpieces like The Wall, for example, without knowing why the Berlin Wall.

Other spaces will be dedicated to Photography and their shots. There will be, for example, some polaroids by Riccardo Piccirillo and shots by the aforementioned Harari.
Another interesting section, the Rock Fantasy, divided into Rock and Cartoons and Rock and Comics, will show vinyl with cartoon characters and drawings by Bonelli illustrators who have dedicated portraits to the great rock stars.

Another important area will be dedicated to the great Massimo Troisi, on the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of his death, and the relationship that the actor from San Giorgio a Cremano had with music will be shown. The costumes of the trio La Smorfia, vinyls and posters relating to the musical texts he wrote and rare props will be exhibited.

Among the events to be reported, that of the 15 in March in which they will be guests Mark Wilkinson, famous British designer who created the covers of many bands, but mainly those of Marillion, and Fish, the singer of the Marillion. The 17 March, however, will be present the princess Elettra Marconi, daughter of Guglielmo Marconi, who will visit the room dedicated to the history of radio.

An exhibition that therefore promises to be a true tribute to rock and roll which, however, does not just want to be reduced to a mere display of objects, but aims to be a point of aggregation and dialogue and, why not, rediscovery and re-evaluation of a genre that everyone, sooner or later, has loved.
