Finally, the new underground route also opens together with the Pietrasanta Basilica in Naples, where the “Sacra Neapolis” exhibition is also underway.

The Basilica della Pietrasanta in Naples has reopened to the public from 13 June 2020 with a new ed unpublished underground path. The itinerary was planned for some time and now it is finally possible to visit it by discovering a new stretch of the ancient city.

Inside the Basilica there is also the Lapis Museum where it is still possible to visit the exhibition "Sacra Neapolis. Cults, myths, legends”(Extended until autumn) which includes 150 finds from the MANN deposits and which tell of a part of the foundation of Naples.

The underground path in the Basilica

After bureaucratic delays and a series of works that made it possible to open that gate c he blocked the entrance to the new underground route, tourists and citizens can finally walk along the new itinerary. The merit is also ofPietrasanta Association who has been working for years to return this immeasurable good to society.

So, every weekend it is now possible to enter and walk on this path long around 1 km admiring a part of the ancient Greco-Roman Aqueduct divided into different areas. We are there Cistern of the Pozzari, Prince's swimming pool andTufo archive.

The exhibition “Sacra Neapolis. Cults, myths, legends "

The aforementioned exhibition, as mentioned, contains 150 finds that tell the past of our Neapolis and winds through an exhibition itinerary in the crypt of the Basilica della Pietrasanta, always in the basement. They are exposed to you bronze and silver coins with engravings representing female faces of the III and IV century AD, marble sculptures like busts and heads and inscriptions.

Among the most important objects are the Votive Stipe of Sant'Aniello in Caponapoli and statues of Isis and Nike.

How to book a visit

Given the persistent emergency from Coronavirus, even for these visits it is reservation required by sending an email to info@lapismuseum.com or by calling the number 081 192 30 565 (the WhatsApp service is also always active). A maximum of 12 people are allowed on each tour.
