At the Teatro San Carlo in Naples the Čajkovskij's Nutcracker is back, an event not to be missed for those who love ballet and the magic of Christmas.
Al San Carlo Theater of Naples the magic of the most beloved Christmas ballet in the world is renewed: The Nutcracker di Tchaikovsky. The show, which has now become a regular Christmas holiday, will be on stage from the 29 December 2018 to the 5 January 2019 and will transport the spectators once again in the enchanting fairy tale inspired by the story The Nutcracker and the king of mice by Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann, written in 1816.
The ballet The Nutcracker it was then composed of Pëtr Il'ič Čajkovskij between the 1891 and the 1892 on the indications of the booklet of Marius Petipa and represented for the first time at the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg the 18 December 1892. Its evocative music is, even today, the background of Christmas parties and, together with the plot of the story, magically brings us back to the dimension of our childhood.
The Nutcracker by Tchaikovsky, the fairytale of a Christmas dream
The story of de The Nutcracker è set just during Christmas Eve, when little Clara, protagonist of the work, he receives as a gift a nutcracker in the shape of a soldier. From this moment the enchantment of Christmas starts. Toys, Christmas decorations, sweets, snowflakes and flowers come to life, dancing with her in a magical atmosphere on the unforgettable compositions by Tchaikovsky like the Waltz of the Flowers, the Dance of the Confetti Fairy and the Dance of the Snowflakes. In this fantasy world, little Clara has a mission: she must manage not to be stolen the nutcracker, which turns into a prince, from a myriad of rats commanded by their cruel King.
The Nutcracker at San Carlo: the novelties of Giuseppe Picone's choreography
For this version of the ballet The Nutcracker, the Neapolitan choreographer Giuseppe Picone has included some news to further immerse the public in a magical and fairytale dimension. On stage there will be "A new Christmas tree, a cloud that makes the Nutcracker fly in the world of the Fata Confetto and scenic panels for the dances of character".
