The Virgilian Park in Posillipo

Il Virgilian Park it was built during the Fascist period and opened in the 1931 with the name Parco della Vittoria or della Bellezza. It was then called Parco delle Rimembranze, to commemorate the fallen of the Great War and later Parco Virgiliano, in honor of the Roman poet.

This park is built with one terraced structure, placed on an area of ​​92.000 m2 and is located in a strategic position, on the promontory of Posillipo, from where splendid panoramic view of the Gulf of Naples. From its "terraces" you can see at a glance the Sorrento peninsula from Vesuvius to Sorrento, the islands of Capri, Procida and Ischia and Nisida, the coast of Posillipo, Coroglio and the Phlegrean coast from Pozzuoli to Capo Miseno.

The rich vegetation leaves room for hundreds of trees such as oaks, olive trees, oaks, myrtle, rosemary and phillyrea.

The park also includes play areas for children, kiosks, bars and a sports facility with a soccer field and an athletic track.

Opening time

  • From 1 May to 20 June from 7: 00 to 24: 00
  • From 21 June to 30 September from 07: 00 to 01: 00
  • From 1 October to 30 April from 07: 00 to 21: 00, closing at 22: 00 on Saturday and Sunday
  • For security reasons access to the park is forbidden in the event of storms and strong winds
  • Access to the public will not be allowed in the last thirty minutes of opening
  • The closure will be announced by sound signal.
