The Museum

The National Archaeological Museum of Paestum is organized in distinct sections to tell the story history of Paestum starting fromprehistoric and protohistoric age, to continue with the Poseidonia from the Greek period and until you reach the Roman colony of Paestum.

In addition to the archaeological evidence from the excavations of Paestum (in Archaeological Park), inside the museum it is possible to admire the archaic metopes of the sanctuary of Hera located near the mouth of the Sele.

Opening time:

  • After sunset you can visit only the illuminated path of the archaeological area: the Temple of Neptune area and the so-called Basilica
  • The Museum is open from 8: 30 to 19: 30 (the last 18 entry ticket is issued: 50)
  • 1 ° and 3 ° Monday of the month from 8: 30 to 13: 40 (the last 13 entry ticket is issued: 00)

  • Single Ticket (Museum + Archaeological Area): € 9,00 - reduced € 4,50
  • Cumulative ticket (Archaeological Park of Paestum + Velia): euro 10,00 - reduced 5,00 euro
  • Museum (only when the excavations are closed): euro 4,00 - reduced 2,00 euro
  • Archaeological area (only when the museum is closed): euro 7,00 - reduced 3,50 euro
  • PAESTUM MIA Annual Ticket (archaeological area + museum + initiatives included in the ordinary ticket): euro 25,00 | reduced 12,50 euro
  • The first Sunday of the month admission is free for everyone
