Tribute to Dario Fo at the Basilica of San Giovanni Maggiore in Naples

At the Basilica of San Giovanni Maggiore in Naples, a show in tribute to Dario Fo directed by Enzo Gragnaniello with many guests.

Saturday January 14 2017 both at Basilica of San Giovanni Maggiore in Naples there will be a show as a tribute to Dario Fo to remember the great artist who passed away last October.

A man of many facets: actor, director, writer, playwright, author, painter, illustrator, set designer and Italian activist. The teacher was able to carry out several activities at the same time, he continued his great artistic passion, he became involved in social work and nurtured his political vocation. Dario Fo has had with our city an exciting relationship from which he was inspired to write some very important comedies, such as "Lu Santo Jullare Francesco" brought on stage at the auditorium of the Rai Production Center in Naples.

The event was organized by the Councilorship of Culture and Tourism of the Municipality of Naples, under the coordination of Enzo Gragnaniello. During the evening there will be a long theatrical concert which will be attended by several artists who will tell their meeting and their experiences with the teacher. The cast includes Mariano Rigillo, Corrado Sfogli and Fausta Vetere of the Nuova Compagnia di Canto Popolare, James Senese Napoli Centrale, Annateresa Rossini, Marcello Colasurdo, Franco Iavarone and the collective Nacchere Rosse (Danilo D'Addio, Antonello Corrado, Gennaro Ciotola and Tina Pelella ).

They will not miss in the script recited passages, monologues, folk songs, improvisations and duets. You will listen to some excerpts from William Shakespeare's "King Lear" and Raffaele Viviani's "Don Nicola", a particular version of the classic "A Flobert", while among the songs some of the folk tradition will be proposed, including "Capera" and "Ricciulita".
